SOFTWARE I USE
What I Have on My Mac
Raycast — I replaced Spotlight with Raycast and haven’t looked back. It has made my entire workflow more efficient and is one of those tools you don’t realize you needed until you can’t live without it.
Obsidian — I tried every note-taking app out there before landing on Obsidian. I’ve built a fairly large personal knowledge system around it and it has become the home base for everything I study, write, and think through.
Speechify — I’m a slow reader and sometimes still struggle to get through dense material. Speechify has been a game changer for reading through papers, PDFs, and long articles. It lets me consume content I might otherwise avoid.
Jump Desktop — A clean, simple way to remote into my other computers. I use it primarily to access my Windows machine and run Toad for SQL Server.
Bible Study Tools
Logos Bible Software — The Cadillac of Bible study tools. It’s not cheap, but it is worth every penny. If you’re serious about studying Scripture, nothing else comes close.
Olive Tree — My preferred app when I just want to sit down and read the Bible on my phone, iPad, or computer. Clean interface and a great reading experience.
Blue Letter Bible — Free and powerful. Multiple Bible versions, plus direct access to the Greek and Hebrew text. One of the best free tools available for any serious Bible student.
Parallel Plus — Want to see multiple Bible versions side by side? This is the best tool for that. Invaluable for comparing how different translations handle a passage.
Biblingo — I’m currently learning Biblical Greek and Hebrew and Biblingo is where I do that work. Focused, structured, and built specifically for the biblical languages.
My AI Tools
I’m a fan of all things tech and AI, so naturally I use a few. Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini are all solid and I use them for different things — but if you’re just getting started, you can honestly get away with just one. They’re more similar than different at this point. Claude has become my new favorite for research and writing, though it can’t generate images. Pick one, learn it well, and go from there.
iPhone & iPad
Bible Study Logos, Blue Letter Bible, Olive Tree, Biblingo, BibleProject, Bible Hub — the same tools I use on Mac, all available on mobile.
Reading & Learning Kindle is my primary ebook reader. Audible for audiobooks. Spotify for podcasts and music. Apple Books, Speechify, Readwise, and Libby round out the reading stack.
News & Media Ground News is where I get my news — it shows you how different outlets cover the same story which helps you think more clearly. Letterboxd for tracking films and JustWatch for finding what’s streaming where.
Health & Fitness Eight Sleep — I have a cooling pad for my bed that has genuinely improved my sleep quality. Oura — I use the ring to track my blood oxygen and sleep data. HotLog — a simple log for tracking my sauna sessions.
