First, in plain English

Who this is

Abishai was David's nephew and one of his most fiercely loyal soldiers, a member of David's elite warriors credited with killing three hundred men single-handedly. He twice offered to kill David's enemies outright, once Saul while he slept and once Shimei for cursing David, and both times David restrained him, unwilling to let personal vengeance override respect for God's anointed or a moment of mercy.
