Who this is

The Valley of Achor lay near Jericho, on the border of Judah and Benjamin, and takes its name from the trouble Achan brought on Israel when he stole devoted plunder from Jericho and was executed there (Joshua 7:24-26). Centuries later the prophets turned that memory of judgment into a promise of restoration: Hosea pictures the valley becoming "a door of hope," and Isaiah pictures it as pastureland for flocks, God's judgment transformed into blessing (Hosea 2:15; Isaiah 65:10). It is usually identified with the Buqei'a plain or the Wadi Qelt southwest of Jericho.
