Who this is

Agag was a king of the Amalekites whom King Saul was ordered to destroy completely along with his people and livestock, but Saul spared Agag and the best animals instead, a direct act of disobedience that cost Saul God's favor and the kingdom. The prophet Samuel personally executed Agag afterward to finish what Saul had refused to do. Agag also appears to function as a dynastic title for Amalekite kings generally, since a much later Amalekite figure, Haman in the book of Esther, is identified as an Agagite.
