Amaziah (King living at the time of Divided Monarchy)
He took Judah's throne after his father Joash was assassinated and executed the killers but spared their children, as the law said. Then he beat Edom, brought its idols home and worshipped them. A war he picked with northern Israel ended with him captured and Jerusalem's walls torn down.

Amaziah became king of Judah after his father Joash was assassinated, and he executed the assassins but spared their children, citing the law that children shouldn't be punished for their parents' sins. After a costly victory over Edom, Amaziah brought Edomite idols home and began worshiping them, and he foolishly provoked a war with northern Israel that ended in his own capture and Jerusalem's walls being torn down. A different Amaziah was the priest of the golden calf shrine at Bethel who confronted the prophet Amos and ordered him to leave the kingdom.
