Who this is

Anak was the ancestor of the Anakim, a people of great stature who inhabited Hebron and struck fear into the Israelite spies sent to scout Canaan (Numbers 13:33). Joshua 15:13 identifies his father as Arba, for whom the city of Hebron was originally named Kirjath-arba. Caleb eventually drove the descendants of Anak out of Hebron and received the city as his inheritance (Joshua 15:14).
