Avims (Avva)
The Avvim lived in villages around Gaza before the Caphtorim, from Crete, drove them out. 2 Kings 17:31 gives the same name to settlers from Avva placed in Samaria by the Assyrians.

The Avvim, also spelled Avims, were a pre-Israelite people who lived in villages in the region of Gaza before being driven out and largely destroyed by the Caphtorim, migrants from Crete associated with the Philistines (Deuteronomy 2:23; Joshua 13:3). The same Hebrew name is applied in 2 Kings 17:31 to settlers from Avva whom the Assyrians relocated to Samaria after deporting the northern kingdom's population; those settlers brought their own gods, Nibhaz and Tartak, with them.
