Azariah was a common name shared by many Old Testament figures, most notably serving as an alternate name for King Uzziah of Judah, and also as the birth name of Abednego, one of Daniel's three friends thrown into the fiery furnace in Babylon for refusing to worship Nebuchadnezzar's golden image.
