Baal-perazim, meaning roughly lord of breakthroughs, was the name David gave to the site where he defeated the Philistines early in his reign over all Israel, comparing the victory to a flood bursting through (2 Sam. 5:20; 1 Chr. 14:11). Isaiah later refers to the same event at Mount Perazim (Isa. 28:21). The location lay near the Valley of Rephaim southwest of Jerusalem.
