Baruch
Baruk, the name of three Israelites
First, in plain English
Baruk, the name of three Israelites
Who this is
Baruch was Jeremiah's scribe and close companion, personally writing down Jeremiah's dictated prophecies onto a scroll that King Jehoiakim later cut up and burned, and Baruch rewrote it from Jeremiah's dictation with additional material added. He was forced into exile in Egypt along with Jeremiah after Judah's remaining leadership was assassinated. A clay seal impression bearing his name and title, found in Jerusalem, is widely believed to be his own.
