Who this is

Beeroth was one of four Hivite cities, with Gibeon, Chephirah, and Kiriath-jearim, whose people tricked Joshua into a peace treaty by posing as distant travelers (Joshua 9:3-17). It was allotted to Benjamin, and two of its native sons, Baanah and Rechab, later murdered Ish-bosheth, Saul's surviving heir, hoping to curry favor with David, who instead had them executed (2 Samuel 4:2-12). Its people are listed among those returning from Babylonian exile in Ezra and Nehemiah (Ezra 2:25).
