Berites appear only once, among the groups Joab passed through while chasing the rebel Sheba son of Bichri to Abel of Beth-maachah. The name's exact identity is uncertain; some take it as a corrupted form of Bichrites, followers of Sheba's own clan, rather than a separate people.
