Who this is

Beth-peor, "house of Peor," was a place across the Jordan from Jericho, in the territory of Reuben, near the sanctuary of the god Baal-peor for which it was named (Joshua 13:20). Moses gave his final address to Israel in the valley opposite Beth-peor before climbing Mount Nebo to view the promised land and die there, and he was buried in that same valley, though no one has ever known the exact location of his grave (Deuteronomy 3:29; 34:6).
