First, in plain English

Bigthan and Teresh guarded the door of King Ahasuerus's chambers and plotted to kill him, and Mordecai found out and reported it.

Who this is

Bigthan, also spelled Bigthana, was one of two eunuchs who guarded the entrance to King Ahasuerus's chambers and conspired with a colleague, Teresh, to assassinate the king. Mordecai uncovered the plot and reported it, leading to the conspirators' execution by hanging, an act recorded in the palace chronicles that later proved crucial to Mordecai's own fortunes (Esther 2:21-23; 6:1-3).
