Cain was Adam and Eve's firstborn son, a farmer who murdered his shepherd brother Abel out of jealousy after God accepted Abel's offering but not his own, and God marked him and exiled him to a life of wandering rather than executing him. Cain went on to build the first city mentioned in the Bible, naming it after his son Enoch, and his descendants are credited with early advances in livestock, music, and metalworking before the line disappears from the narrative.
