Caleb (Joshua's compatriot living at the time of Egypt and Wilderness and Conquest)
One of the twelve spies Moses sent into Canaan. He and Joshua were the only two who came back telling Israel to trust God and take the land, and the rest of that generation paid for ignoring them with forty years in the wilderness.

Caleb was one of twelve spies Moses sent to scout Canaan, and along with Joshua he was the only one who returned urging Israel to trust God and take the land, a minority report that cost the rest of that generation forty years of wandering as punishment for their fear. Because of his faith, Caleb was promised he would personally enter the promised land, and at eighty-five, decades later, he asked for and received the hill country of Hebron specifically because it was still occupied by fortified cities and giants, wanting the hardest ground rather than the easiest.
