Chorazin was one of the towns around the Sea of Galilee where Jesus performed many of his miracles, yet he pronounced a woe against it for failing to repent, grouping it with Bethsaida and Capernaum (Matt. 11:21; Luke 10:13). It is identified with Khirbet Karazeh, about two miles north of Capernaum, where archaeologists have excavated an ancient synagogue built of black basalt, standing on a site of much older settlement.
