Deborah (Judge living before Israel's Monarchy)
Prophetess and the one woman among Israel's judges. She sat under a palm tree between Ramah and Bethel and Israel came to her for judgment. Barak would not go against Sisera without her, so she went and told him a woman would get the credit, and Jael killed Sisera in her own tent.

Deborah was a prophetess and the only woman among Israel's judges, and she held court under a palm tree between Ramah and Bethel where Israelites came to her for judgment. When she summoned the military commander Barak to lead an attack against the Canaanite general Sisera, he refused to go unless she came with him, so she agreed but told him the credit for the victory would go to a woman instead, a prophecy fulfilled when a woman named Jael killed Sisera in her own tent with a tent peg. Deborah is also named as the nurse of Rebekah in Genesis, an earlier figure who has nothing to do with the judge.
