Who this is

The Euphrates is the longest river of Western Asia, rising in the Armenian highlands and flowing some seventeen hundred miles to the Persian Gulf, and the Bible names it among the four rivers of Eden and repeatedly as “the great river” marking the northeastern edge of the land promised to Abraham's descendants. It served as the effective boundary of David's kingdom at its widest extent and later as a symbol of Mesopotamian imperial power, first Assyrian, then Babylonian, threatening Israel and Judah from beyond it.
