Who this is

Gethsemane was not a person but an olive grove at the foot of the Mount of Olives, just across the Kidron Valley from Jerusalem, where Jesus often withdrew with his disciples and where he agonized in prayer the night he was betrayed and arrested (Matthew 26:36-46; John 18:1-2). The garden has been venerated at roughly this location since at least the fourth century, though the olive trees standing there today have been radiocarbon-dated to the medieval period rather than to the first century.
