Gibeon
They tricked Joshua into a treaty by dressing as travellers from far away, the Hivites of this city northwest of Jerusalem, and so they lived but served at Israel's sanctuary. The tabernacle stood at Gibeon for years, and Solomon had his dream there. At el-Jib dozens of jar handles stamped with the name have settled where it was.

Gibeon was a major Hivite city northwest of Jerusalem whose inhabitants tricked Joshua into a peace treaty by posing as distant travelers, a ruse that spared them destruction but bound them to servitude in Israel's sanctuary. The city later hosted the tabernacle for years before Solomon built the temple, and it was there that Solomon offered sacrifices and received his famous dream. It was also the scene of a battle between the forces of David and Ish-bosheth. Excavations at el-Jib uncovered dozens of jar handles stamped with the name “Gibeon” in ancient Hebrew script, confirming the site's identification beyond doubt.
