The same name traced across the biblical canon and the Second Temple texts, side by side.
Habakkuk (Prophet living at the time of Divided Monarchy)
He argued with God. Why does Judah's injustice go unpunished, he asks, and when the answer is Babylon, he asks how God can use a nation worse than Judah to do it. The book ends with him choosing to trust and rejoice with his questions still open, and his line that the righteous will live by faith is one Paul built on.

Habakkuk was a prophet who openly questioned God, asking why he tolerated Judah's injustice and then, when told Babylon would be the instrument of judgment, asking how God could use a nation even more wicked than Judah to punish it. The book records God's answer and ends with Habakkuk choosing to trust and even rejoice in God despite having no resolution to his questions, famously declaring that the righteous will live by faith, a line Paul later builds an entire theology of salvation around.
