The last of the Edomite kings listed before Israel had a king. He ruled from Pau and his wife was Mehetabel. Chronicles calls him Hadad, so Hadar may only be a copying variant.

Who this is

Hadar appears twice in Edom's early history, and both times the parallel genealogy in 1 Chronicles calls him Hadad instead, suggesting Hadar may simply be a copying variation of that name. The first was a son of Ishmael (Genesis 25:15; 1 Chronicles 1:30), and the second was the last of the Edomite kings listed before Israel had a monarchy, ruling from the city of Pau and married to Mehetabel (Genesis 36:39; 1 Chronicles 1:50-51).
