Hagar (Woman living at the time of the Patriarchs)
Sarah's Egyptian servant, given to Abraham to have the child Sarah could not, and she bore Ishmael. After Isaac came, Sarah had her and the boy sent into the wilderness, and God met her there. She is the only person in Genesis who gives God a name of her own, the God who sees me.

Hagar was Sarah's Egyptian servant, given to Abraham to bear a child when Sarah's own infertility made God's promise seem impossible, and she gave birth to Ishmael. After Isaac's birth, Sarah had Hagar and Ishmael sent away into the wilderness, where God met Hagar directly, promising that Ishmael too would become a great nation, and she is the only person in Genesis recorded giving God a name of her own, calling him the God who sees me.
