Hazor was the largest and most powerful Canaanite city-state in the region, and Joshua's destruction of it, described as the head of all the Canaanite kingdoms, was the decisive victory of the northern campaign. Excavations at the site have uncovered a massive Bronze Age city consistent with the biblical description of its scale.
