Isaac (Man living at the time of the Patriarchs)

Abraham and Sarah's promised son, born when his father was a hundred. God told Abraham to sacrifice him on Mount Moriah and provided a ram at the last moment. Old and blind, he was tricked by Jacob into giving him Esau's blessing, and he never left Canaan or took a second wife.

First, in plain English

Abraham and Sarah's promised son, born when his father was a hundred. God told Abraham to sacrifice him on Mount Moriah and provided a ram at the last moment. Old and blind, he was tricked by Jacob into giving him Esau's blessing, and he never left Canaan or took a second wife.

In Luke

Named only three times in Luke, always paired with Abraham and Jacob as shorthand for the patriarchs (13:28, 20:37). Josephus tells the Moriah story with the same beats as Genesis 22, but adds Isaac's own willing consent as a grown man, a detail Genesis never states outright.

Who this is

Isaac was the long-promised son of Abraham and Sarah, born when his father was a hundred years old, and Scripture's most searching test of Abraham came when God ordered Isaac sacrificed on Mount Moriah before providing a ram at the last moment. He married Rebekah through his father's servant's mission back to Mesopotamia, and late in life, blind and dying, he was tricked by his younger son Jacob into giving him the blessing meant for the older twin, Esau. Isaac is the only patriarch who never left the land of Canaan, and the only one recorded marrying just one wife.
