The same name traced across the biblical canon and the Second Temple texts, side by side.
Jaare-oregim (Warrior living at the time of United Monarchy)
Samuel names him as father of Elhanan, who killed Goliath the Gittite. Chronicles has the father as Jair and the victim as Lahmi, Goliath's brother, and most scholars think "oregim", weavers, slipped in from the next words about the spear shaft.

Jaare-oregim was a Bethlehemite named in 2 Samuel 21:19 as the father of Elhanan, the warrior credited there with killing Goliath the Gittite. The parallel account in 1 Chronicles 20:5 instead names the father as Jair and specifies that Elhanan killed Lahmi, the brother of Goliath, a difference most scholars attribute to a scribal duplication of the word "oregim" (weavers) from the following clause describing the spear shaft. The name itself, meaning "forests of the weavers," likely preserves a trade-guild connection rather than functioning as a simple personal name.
