Jazer was an Amorite town east of the Jordan in Gilead, taken by Israel and assigned to Gad, then given to the Levites descended from Merari. It later belonged to a district under a Hebronite overseer in David's administration. Isaiah and Jeremiah both use Jazer's ruined vineyards as an image of Moab's coming devastation.
