Jabbok
Jacob crossed this stream alone the night before he met Esau, wrestled until daybreak, and came away named Israel and limping. It runs west into the Jordan through a gorge in Gilead, halfway between the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea, and is the Zarqa River today.

The Jabbok is a stream flowing west into the Jordan roughly midway between the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea, running through a deep gorge in the Gilead highlands; it formed a boundary between the Ammonites and the kingdom of Og, and later between Reuben and half of Manasseh (Joshua 12:2; Deuteronomy 3:16). Jacob crossed it alone the night before meeting Esau and there wrestled with a divine figure until daybreak, coming away with the name Israel and a permanent limp (Genesis 32:22-31); it is identified today with the Zarqa River in Jordan.
