Who this is

Jabez names both a person and a place under one Hebrew word. The person is a descendant of Judah remembered for a short prayer asking God to bless him and enlarge his territory, a prayer the text says God granted (1 Chronicles 4:9-10). Separately, 1 Chronicles 2:55 lists Jabez as a town inhabited by families of scribes connected to the Kenite clans of the house of Rechab.
