Who this is

Jahaz, also called Jahaza, Jahazah, or Jahzah, was a town on the plateau north of the Arnon River where Moses defeated Sihon, king of the Amorites, opening the way for Israel's settlement of the region (Numbers 21:23; Deuteronomy 2:32). It fell within the territory of Reuben and was later assigned to the Merarite Levites (Joshua 13:18; 21:36). Isaiah and Jeremiah both cite Jahaz in their oracles against Moab, since the town changed hands more than once during Moab's later conflicts with Israel (Isaiah 15:4; Jeremiah 48:34).
