Janoah
Janoach, a place in Palestine
First, in plain English
Janoach, a place in Palestine
Who this is
Janoah names two different towns. One lay on the northeastern border of Ephraim, in the Jordan Valley, identified with the modern village of Yanun southeast of Nablus (Josh. 16:6-7). The other was a town in Naphtali, in the north, captured by Tiglath-pileser III of Assyria along with Galilee and Gilead during his campaign against Israel under King Pekah, an event corroborated by Tiglath-pileser's own royal inscriptions listing his conquests in the Levant (2 Kings 15:29).
