Who this is

Jehoiarib was a priest in Jerusalem who headed the first of the twenty-four priestly divisions organized for temple service (1 Chronicles 9:10; 24:7). His course continued after the Babylonian exile, and the priestly family of Mattathias and his sons, the Maccabees, later traced its descent from this division.
