Jehoshua

Jehoshua, better known as Joshua, was Moses's attendant and eventual successor, one of only two men from the generation that left Egypt who lived to enter the promised land. He led Israel across the Jordan on dry ground, brought down the walls of Jericho, and directed the campaign that broke Canaanite resistance, dividing the conquered territory among the twelve tribes before his death. His name, meaning Yahweh saves, is the same Hebrew name later rendered Jesus in Greek.
