Jerubbesheth (Judge living before Israel's Monarchy)
Gideon again, under a name used only in 2 Samuel 11:21. The scribe swapped the -baal ending of Jerubbaal for -besheth, "shame", rather than write Baal's name. Ishbaal became Ishbosheth and Meribbaal became Mephibosheth the same way.

An alternate name for Gideon used once, in 2 Samuel 11:21, where the scribe replaces the "-baal" element of Jerubbaal with "-besheth" ("shame") to avoid writing the name of the Canaanite god Baal. It reflects the same scribal habit that turned Ishbaal into Ishbosheth and Meribbaal into Mephibosheth elsewhere in Samuel.
