Joash, the name of six Israelites

Who this is

Joash became king of Judah at seven years old, the only survivor of a massacre his grandmother Athaliah carried out against the rest of the royal family, hidden in the temple for six years by his aunt until the priest Jehoiada staged a coup that killed Athaliah and installed Joash on the throne. Joash ordered the temple repaired and reigned well while Jehoiada lived, but after the priest died he abandoned the reforms, and when Jehoiada's own son confronted him for it, Joash had the man stoned to death in the temple courtyard, a betrayal that led to Joash's own assassination not long after.
