Lazarus (Man living at the time of the New Testament)
The beggar in Jesus's parable, covered in sores at a rich man's gate and wanting scraps from his table. After death he is comforted and the rich man is not. He is the only character in any of the parables with a name.

Lazarus of Bethany was the brother of Mary and Martha and a close friend of Jesus, and his death and resurrection after four days in the tomb is the last and greatest of the miracles recorded in John's Gospel, the one that finally convinced the religious authorities to move against Jesus for good. A different Lazarus is the beggar in one of Jesus's parables, covered in sores and longing for scraps from a rich man's table, who ends up comforted in the afterlife while the rich man suffers, the only character in any of Jesus's parables given a name.
