Lebanon
Two mountain ridges along the coast, Lebanon proper to the west and the Anti-Lebanon rising to Mount Hermon, with the Beqaa Valley between. Solomon's temple and palace were built of its cedar, cut and floated south under a deal with Hiram of Tyre. Israel was promised it and never took all of it.

Lebanon is the mountain range running along Syria's Mediterranean coast, its western ridge, Lebanon proper, and eastern ridge, the Anti-Lebanon culminating in Mount Hermon, enclosing the long Beqaa Valley between them. Its cedar forests supplied timber for Solomon's temple and palace, cut and floated south under an agreement with Hiram of Tyre, and its snow capped peaks and springs made it a recurring image of grandeur and freshness in the Psalms and Song of Solomon. Israel was promised the territory but never fully conquered it. Egyptian records such as the Tale of Wenamun describe the same cedar trade with the Lebanese coast that the Bible attributes to Solomon and Hiram.
