Who this is

Leshem is an older form of the name Laish, the Canaanite city that the tribe of Dan captured and resettled after abandoning their assigned coastal territory, renaming it Dan after their ancestor (Joshua 19:47; compare the fuller account in Judges 18). The site, at Tel Dan in northern Israel, has been extensively excavated and is best known for producing the Tel Dan Stele, a ninth-century BC inscription in which an Aramean king boasts of defeating the "house of David," the earliest extrabiblical reference to David's dynasty.
