Lydda was a town on the coastal plain about nine miles southeast of Joppa, known in the Old Testament as Lod (1 Chronicles 8:12). Peter healed a paralyzed man named Aeneas there, a miracle that led many in the surrounding plain of Sharon to turn to the Lord (Acts 9:32-35). The Romans later destroyed and rebuilt the city under the name Diospolis; today it is the Israeli city of Lod, home to Ben Gurion Airport.
