The same Hebrew name was borne by several people connected to the royal court: Maacah daughter of Talmai, king of Geshur, became one of David's wives and the mother of Absalom, while another Maacah, also called Michaiah, a granddaughter of Absalom, married Rehoboam and later served as queen mother until her grandson Asa removed her for promoting idol worship. A third Maacah fathered Achish, king of Gath, in Saul's day.
