Who this is

Mahanaim, meaning "two camps," was the place near the Jabbok River where Jacob was met by angels of God on his return from Paddan-aram and divided his household into two companies before facing Esau. The town later became a Levitical city and, after Saul's death, served as the capital where Ishbosheth reigned over the northern tribes while David ruled from Hebron. Decades later David himself took refuge at Mahanaim during Absalom's rebellion, and it was there he received news of Absalom's death.
