The Greek form of Manasseh. Here it is the tribe, counted among the sealed in Revelation.
Who this is
Manasses is the Greek New Testament form of Manasseh and refers to two different things. In Matthew's genealogy it names the notorious king of Judah, ancestor of Jesus, who reigned longer than any other Judean king and led the nation into idolatry (Matthew 1:10). In Revelation it instead names the tribe descended from Joseph's son Manasseh, listed among the twelve tribes sealed by God (Revelation 7:6).
