The same name traced across the biblical canon and the Second Temple texts, side by side.
Massa (Arabian living at the time of the Patriarchs)
Ishmael had twelve sons, each the head of an Arabian tribe, and Massa was one. Assyrian records of the eighth century BC name a nomad tribe called Mas'a in the same region, and many scholars take them for his descendants.

Massa was one of Ishmael's twelve sons, each the head of an Arabian tribal confederation (Genesis 25:14; 1 Chronicles 1:30). Assyrian records from the eighth century BC mention a nomadic Arabian tribe called “Mas'a” in the same general region, which many scholars identify with his descendants. Nothing further is recorded of Massa himself.
