The same name traced across the biblical canon and the Second Temple texts, side by side.
Moriah
Abraham was told to take Isaac to the land of Moriah and offer him there. Chronicles puts Solomon's temple on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem, on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. Jewish tradition has long taken the two as the same ridge.

Moriah is not a person but the name of a mountain in Jerusalem, the site where Solomon later built the temple on what had been the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite (2 Chronicles 3:1). Genesis 22:2 identifies 'the land of Moriah' as the place where Abraham was told to offer Isaac, and Jewish tradition has long linked the two locations as the same ridge, generally understood as part of the same hill as Mount Zion.
