The same name traced across the biblical canon and the Second Temple texts, side by side.
Naarah (Woman living at the time of Divided Monarchy)
Ashur's second wife, in Hezron's line of Judah, and the mother of four of his sons.
First, in plain English
Ashur's second wife, in Hezron's line of Judah, and the mother of four of his sons.
Who this is
The references here describe a person rather than a place, despite the place tag. Naarah was the second wife of Ashur, a descendant of Judah through Hezron, and the mother of several sons whose names are preserved in the tribal genealogy of Chronicles (1 Chr. 4:5-6). A different place called Naarah, or Naarath, near Jericho on Ephraim's border is mentioned separately in Joshua 16:7.
