Who this is

Nineveh was the capital of the Assyrian empire, the city Jonah reluctantly preached to and watched repent, and later the target of Nahum's prophecy of destruction once it had returned to its old cruelty. Extensive archaeological excavation of Nineveh has recovered the Assyrian royal library and detailed records of the empire's military campaigns, including Sennacherib's own account of his siege of Jerusalem.
