After Uzzah died, David would not take the ark any further and left it in Obed-edom's house for three months. It brought blessing on his whole household, and that was what got David moving again.

Who this is

Obed-edom was a Levite in whose house the ark of the covenant stayed for three months after Uzzah's death, and rather than bringing disaster the way it had for the Philistines, the ark brought blessing to Obed-edom's entire household, encouraging David to finally bring it the rest of the way to Jerusalem.
