Who this is

Paphos was the Roman capital of Cyprus and residence of its governor when Paul and Barnabas visited during their first missionary journey and confronted the sorcerer Elymas before the proconsul Sergius Paulus (Acts 13:6-13). An inscription found on Cyprus names a proconsul Paulus in office around the same period Luke describes, corroborating the office and roughly the timeframe Acts assigns to Sergius Paulus's governorship.
