Who this is

City in Lydia, Asia Minor, seat of one of the seven churches addressed in Revelation and commended for remaining faithful despite having little strength (Rev. 3:7-13). The city sat near a fault line and suffered repeatedly from earthquakes, including a major one in AD 17 that devastated the region and is recorded by the Roman historian Tacitus; Rome's financial help afterward led several Lydian cities to add the emperor's name to their own in gratitude. It survives today as the Turkish city of Alaşehir.
